Born and brought up in Garhwa Kanchan Kumar Sahu is a paragon of that change, selflessness and dedication. His journey began with lionism as a Leo in the year 1999 at Garhwa, since then he has been a driving force for positive change as a proud lion.
His commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in his initiative which was taken 3 years ago of planting 1,000 plants on a barren hill with 1000 young school children which has now transformed into a lush and green landscape.
His passion for service is reflected in his blood donation journey, starting at the age of 19 and having donated blood an impressive 78 times for the community.
As a leader, he demonstrated teamwork and humility as Charter Secretary of his club. He has been a strong advocate for social causes, notably championing the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" initiative, emphasizing the importance of educating and empowering girls. His profound commitment to women’s empowerment is not just a societal advocate but this is seen in his own family where he embraces his only daughter as his sole legal heir.
During the COVID-19 pandemic with the immense support of Sri. Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, then Honorable Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation his efforts were exemplary. He established two mega oxygen plants in Sadar Hospital, organized food distribution through "Sita Rasoi" serving over 10,000 people daily and provided medical support to those in need. His humanitarian work extends to founding Moksh, an organization that performs dignified cremations for unclaimed bodies, having served over 36 individuals.
In the healthcare sector he has been instrumental in setting up advanced medical facilities in Sadar Hospital, Garhwa including digital X-ray, USG machine, and SNCU. Notably, he facilitated the establishment of a three-bed dialysis center, which now serves over 400 patients monthly.
His tireless efforts have earned recognition including the COVID Warrior award from the Jharkhand government. His commitment to serving humanity is truly inspiring, making a lasting impact on his community.
